FAQ

Questions about Application

  • Are there any vehicles that ECHELON cannot be used on?

Generally, there is no problem, but if the painted surface is significantly deteriorated (for example, if chalking phenomenon* occurs), it is advisable to avoid application. Also, if the surface is painted, the intended effect may not be fully achieved, so be sure to consult with the installer before application. Furthermore, on unpainted metal parts or plated areas, the performance of the coating may be less than that of the body.

    * Chalking phenomenon: A condition in which the body paint surface becomes weathered, flaky, and leaves white powder when touched.
  • I would like to know the installation price of ECHELON.

ECHELON does not have a fixed price. Coating application involves more than simply applying a coating agent—it requires professional techniques such as surface preparation, and the process may vary depending on the detailing shop. Therefore, please contact your local shop directly to inquire about pricing and details.

  • I have had another coating applied by the dealer when I bought my car. Can ECHELON be applied?

Yes, it is generally possible. However, since the existing coating must be removed, please be sure to inform and consult with the shop when making your request.

  • Is it possible to apply the coating to areas that have been partially repaired due to an accident or other damage?

Yes, it is possible. However, immediately after painting, the surface may not be fully cured, which could make it unsuitable for coating in some cases. Please consult with the shop and have them assess the condition before proceeding.

Questions about Performance

  • Will applying ECHELON provide a water repellent effect?

ECHELON offers a wide range of products tailored to meet the needs of our users. Each product has different characteristics, providing various effects such as water repellency or hydrophilicity. If you have a specific effect in mind, please consult with the detailing shop, and they will recommend the most suitable product for you.

  • How long does the effect of ECHELON last?

Durability varies depending on usage and environmental conditions, so we recommend consulting with your installer for details. It is difficult to give an exact duration, but the following is a general guideline:

    Zen-XeroDYNAMIX/Zen-Xero: Over 3 years
    NANO-FIL/CS-1/Ver.3.0: 2-3 years

*The above is based on the period during which you can experience the coating’s effects, provided that you regularly maintain your car, such as through car washing. For details on car care, please consult with the shop.
  • Will it prevent water spots and ion deposits from adhering on the painted surface?

Even after application of ECHELON coating, water spots and ion deposits may occur depending on environmental conditions. These tend to occur especially easily on the horizontal surfaces of the vehicle.

Water spots: This is a phenomenon in which water droplets remaining on a painted surface create indentations on the painted surface due to the lens effect of sunlight. As a preventative measure, it is important not to leave water droplets on the car after washing it or after it rains, but to wipe them off frequently.

Ion deposits: Minerals and dust contained in tap water and rainwater remain on the painted surface after the water evaporates. If water droplets are left unattended, silica scale can build up and leave crater-like marks that are difficult to remove. To prevent this, it is important to wash your car regularly to remove any residue as soon as possible.

*Please feel free to consult with the detailing shops for detailed maintenance instructions.

Questions about Maintenance

  • Do I have to do something after applying the coating?

No, regular maintenance is required. Coatings are designed to enhance your car’s shine and make routine care easier, but they still require proper care. Following the car care recommended by the detailing shop or our company will help maximize performance and maintain lasting beauty.

  • What kind of care is needed?

Basic car care is regular car washing. Please use the designated shampoo series for ECHELON. For other detailed care, please feel free to consult with the detailing shop, who will provide you with the best advice to suit your lifestyle.

  • What will happen if I do not do any maintenance?

Without regular car care, the benefits of ECHELON coating may be reduced. While the coating helps minimize dirt adhesion, some contaminants may become harder to remove without proper washing. To maintain a beautiful finish, we recommend consistent car care.

  • If there are contaminants which I cannot remove by washing the car, what should I do?

In such cases, please use the designated shampoo series for ECHELON or consult with the detailing shop where the coating was applied. Please avoid using non-professional available products as they may damage the coating layer.

  • Am I able to use car wash machines for regular maintenance and car washing?

Using automatic car washes is possible, but we recommend hand washing. While the ECHELON coating won’t immediately degrade, frequent use or certain types of car washes can reduce its durability compared to hand washing. It may also increase the risk of scratches and reduce gloss.
